Welcome to Milton Park Bowling Club

Nestled in the heart of Southsea, Portsmouth, Milton Park Bowling Club has been a cornerstone of the local community since its establishment in 1923. Our green was originally laid using Cumberland Turf, providing an exceptional playing surface that has stood the test of time.

A Legacy of Excellence

From our early triumphs in the Portsmouth & District League during the 1930s and 1960s to individual accolades achieved by our members, Milton Park Bowling Club has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence in the sport of bowls. Over the years, many members have proudly represented Hampshire at county level, and the club has been represented at the National Finals in each of the last three years—a testament to the talent and dedication of our players. We’re also proud to have a qualified coach on hand to support players of all abilities.

Celebrating 100 Years

In July 2023, we proudly marked our Centenary—a significant milestone that celebrated our enduring legacy. The day included a commemorative match featuring 44 bowlers, with representatives from Bowls Hampshire, the Portsmouth & District Bowls League, and fellow centenary clubs such as Pembroke Gardens, Bridport, and Hurstpierpoint. The event was graced by Portsmouth’s Lord Mayor, Cllr Tom Coles, and other dignitaries. Members were presented with a special centenary badge and a 12-page commemorative brochure chronicling the club’s history.

Into the Future

As we look ahead, Milton Park Bowling Club is proud to be a fully integrated club, following the merger with our Ladies section. We now field six league teams, with members participating at every level of the game—from friendly roll-ups and club competitions to county championships and national events. This inclusive approach not only reflects the spirit of modern bowls but also enriches the social and competitive life of the club.

We remain committed to welcoming players of all ages and skill levels, offering a friendly and supportive environment in which to enjoy and develop your game.
